Suchitra first made inroads into interior design at the youthful age of twenty-one, when she designed her father-in-law’s office. As the art of design dawned upon a vibrant young adult, eclectic ideas followed each project that she undertook.
She was fortunate to experience the desire for design, from the melting pot of Mumbai’s SNDT University to the prestigious reservoir of Rhode Island School of Design, making her a student for life. She then went on to impart these valuable lessons by teaching the History of design at SNDT University and Raffles College, Mumbai.
The scarcity of custom furniture stores in Mumbai gave birth to ‘The Yellow Bohemian’ in 1998. This free-spirited contemporary furniture studio caters to suit client needs based on appeal & aesthetics.
The furniture is crafted by marrying well seasoned teak wood and other high-quality raw materials. She also encourages the reuse of old timber and locally grown woods to limit her carbon footprint, keeping sustainability at the heart of her work.
